Sailing

7-9th grade

9-12th grade

Due to the nature of our activities, our route may vary from that which is below. Weather conditions, the make up and size of the group, and the group’s objectives may all factor into how far and where we travel. Plan on canoeing or hiking should the wind die down. These are all part of what makes your trip an adventure, but here is what we are planning to do:

SUNDAY:  Registration will be at 2:30 p.m. in Fenimore Hall. Please be on time as we have a great deal to do today. Equipment shake down and group building will all be a part of the day. We will spend the night getting settled into our lean tos in the Fowler's Wilderness area.

MONDAY:  Basic sailing techniques. Learning about our boats. Capsizing and safety techniques.

TUESDAY:  Sailing the Sunfish and canoeing

WEDNESDAY: Today we try our luck sailing across the lake to camp on the far side (or perhaps we'll try to sail into Speculator for ice cream! :) Each group is different!

THURSDAY:  Sailing... you saw that one coming!!!!

FRIDAY:  Return to Fowler. Test your skills against each other in the Fowler Cup Classic Sailboat Race!

SATURDAY:  We will be ready to say farewell to our good friends and the Adirondacks. But only until next year!

Pick-up is a t 10:00 AM in the Center of Camp
